Round 8 Studios and Neowiz have released the story trailer for Lies of P: Overture, a DLC prequel for the game.

They shared this description of the DLC on its Steam page:
“Cross the Bounds of Time
Lies of P: Overture is a dramatic prequel to the acclaimed soulslike action RPG, Lies of P. It transports you to the city of Krat in its final days of haunting, late-19th-century Belle Époque beauty. On the brink of the Puppet Frenzy massacre, you follow a legendary Stalker—a mysterious guide—through untold stories and chilling secrets. As Geppetto’s deadly puppet, you’ll journey through Krat and its surroundings, uncover hidden backstories, and face epic battles that shape the past and future of Lies of P.
As Geppetto’s Puppet, you encounter a mysterious artifact that transports you back to Krat in its final days of grandeur. In the shadow of an impending tragedy, your mission is to explore the past and uncover its dark secrets—haunted by surprises, loss, and vengeance. The choices you make ripple through the past and present in the world of Lies of P, revealing hidden truths and leaving lasting consequences.
Embark on an unforgettable adventure where the symphony of steel clashes with the haunting melody of the unknown. Dare to unravel the mysteries of the past, for in the heart of darkness lies the key to unlocking the secrets of a timeless tale reborn.
“Geppetto’s puppet… We need your help.””
As we can see, Lies of P: Overture isn’t quite going to pay off the cliffhanger that Round 8 Studios left in the end of the original game. But perhaps we will see some story elements that were inspired by Carlo Collodi’s Pinocchio stories that just didn’t quite fit in the game the first time. We won’t spoil what we mean here, but if you did play through the game you already have some idea from the description above of what parts of the story this prequel will explore.
It’s a great time for Round 8 Studio, as they arguably launched the ongoing wave of Chinese and Korean game studios taking center stage in the global video games market. Now that they can show their talents to global gamers, they are enjoying the same accolades and fan reception as their Japanese and Western counterparts. Of course, the money is good too.
We know that Round 8 has other projects in the works as well, but this certainly feels like a nice reward for the global gamers for making Lies of P the success that it is.
