Avowed just landed in the marketplace this past week. It was a game that had quite a bit of hype built up around it. Coming from the talented folks at Obsidian Entertainment, players enjoying this title might have more content soon. There’s not a sudden urge to move away from this title, according to some of the recent comments by game director Carrie Patel.
During a conversation on Bloomberg, the game director behind Avowed was asked about the future. The team’s big action RPG release has landed in the marketplace. Reviews have generally been well received, and some are wondering what’s next. Are we closing the book on Avowed and moving on to a new IP? Well, if it was up to Carrie, this is a world just begging to be expanded.
While it is not confirmed that anything is coming, Carrie Patel noted that they built this wonderful world and have a team with muscle memory around the content and gameplay. So, the game director would love to see more done with it. That certainly sounds like there might be enough interest to deliver an expansion into the mix, but that’s yet to be confirmed.
Now that we’ve built this wonderful world, and also built this team strength and muscle memory around the content and gameplay in this world, I’d love to see us do more with it. – Carrie Patel
Obsidian Entertainment is not without a new game project in the works. While Avowed was being developed, another team carefully planned The Outer Worlds 2. That game will bring players back into the franchise they initially launched back in 2019. However, we’re still waiting to learn when this game will land in the marketplace. At the moment, it’s still slated for this year, but perhaps some resources are still being spent on adding new content to Avowed rather than diverting all their attention into shaping The Outer Worlds 2 up.
At any rate, while we wait to see if there’s content planned for Avowed, those who have yet to step into this fantasy-action RPG can do so right now. The game is only available on the PC and Xbox Series X platforms. Likewise, we also have a Before You Buy video coverage of the game which you can view in the video embedded below.
