Several video game adaptations are currently being produced, and oddly enough, they have been doing well. It wasn’t too long ago that these adaptations fell short of being anything fans of the video games would call good. But with the sudden change in how these adaptations are doing, one production that has been dragging its feet a bit is Gears of War. Netflix needs to get the ball rolling, as even Dave Bautista chimed in on his frustrations.
Dave Bautista has been vocal about wanting to see a Gears of War movie and for him to step into the iconic role of Marcus Fenix. It’s hard to imagine anyone else being perfect in that role. But as it stands, we’re waiting to see the actor cast for this role.
The actor and former professional wrestler is tired of waiting and even commented on the production when he was interviewed on ComicBook. During their conversation, Dave pointed out his request for fans to start a petition to get Netflix going with the Gears of War movie. While he’s been vocal on the topic, it might help if fans also come online and start writing some petitions to help speed things along.
Of course, Hollywood is very much a hurry-up-and-wait sort of game. We know that there are people interested in seeing these productions come out, but it could be a long wait before some notable progress is made. But if there’s enough feedback from fans, Dave is hopeful this might help keep interest alive and progressing.
At any rate, while we wait for news regarding the movie production, we already know there’s a new video game installment in the works. Gears of War: E-Day is the next installment in the works, and it’s set to launch on PC and Xbox Series X/S platforms. However, we don’t have a release date quite yet. That said, we know the story is set up as a prequel to the original game installment, with players following Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago during the events of Emergence Day.
