There have been quite a few “presentations” lately, mainly from Microsoft and Sony, and that’s gotten many wondering when Nintendo will jump in and “have its fun.” On the one hand, a Nintendo Direct was allegedly happening this month, but we’re already halfway past it, and nothing has occurred yet. In contrast, we’re now ten days away from a “gamer holiday,” Pokemon Day, and many expect a certain thing to happen on that day. Yes, we’re talking about a Pokemon Presents, a “Tradition Unlike Any Others,” after all, it involves “Masters” of a different variety. Jokes aside, many feel it will happen due to it happening on the 27th in the last few years.
The question then shifts to, “What will the Pokemon Presents showcase?” That one is slightly easier to answer. First and foremost, The Pokemon Company will likely drop updates pertaining to its numerous mobile titles. After all, multiple ones are still up and still bringing in money for the company. As such, they’ll want to appease those who play them with key updates on new content, characters/Pokemon to play as, new expansions if applicable, etc.
However, the game that everyone WANTS to be there is Pokemon Legends Z-A. This game has been a true curiosity since it debuted at last year’s Pokemon Day. Why is that? First, its reveal trailer was even more unique than its predecessor. It focused on a “Redevelopment Plan” in Lumiose City in the Kalos region. Second, as noted by the official post on Twitter, the game would be set entirely within that city, which would be a first for a mainline title.
There was also the tease that the legendary Pokemon Zygarde would finally get a major appearance in the game.
Officially, that’s all we know about the game, except that it is coming to Nintendo Switch this year. However, that leads to the other “interesting element” of the game: the leaks. The Pokemon Company had a serious hack in 2024, and that led to all sorts of rumors and reports about what would be in the game and how it would be different from its predecessor.
While nothing has been officially confirmed, the rumors do paint an interesting picture of a unique entry in the franchise.
That’s why gamers want this showcase to focus primarily on this title. If this is one of the last great Switch games to come out before its successor arrives, gamers want to know what they’ll be playing and, most importantly, when they’ll be able to get it.
