Is it time to go back to the future? We’ll be in Bob Gale’s eyes; there’s room to make another go at it. Now, don’t get too excited or concerned here. There are no plans to see a new installment or a reboot of the popular franchise. However, a new game is coming out that has Bob excited to see it finally launch into the marketplace.
Back to the Future is such an iconic franchise, and this year marks its 40th anniversary. That’s quite the milestone if you ask me. So with this in mind, there’s likely going to be plenty of fans of the IP wondering what all is being planned out. Recently, Bob Gale was interviewed by Cleveland.com. If you’re unfamiliar with the name, Bob helped write the film with director Robert Zemeckis and produced the movie.
So, who better to ask about what’s next for this IP? According to Bob, there are still no plans to reboot this movie trilogy or find another installment to release in the marketplace. However, that doesn’t mean there’s no room for other content to be released for fans worldwide. Among those is a video game that Bob noted was something he’s been wanting to do for a long time. However, he couldn’t say more than that about this mystery project.
“We’ve got a shot at a new video game based on “Back to the Future.” I don’t want to tell you any more than that because I’m not allowed to, but this is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. Knock on wood that it will happen. Of course, 2025 is the 40th anniversary of the original movie. We’re planning on some events, plus there’s a documentary that’s in post-production now about the making of the musical.” –Bob Gale
We’ve seen plenty of games in the past based on this IP. For instance, even Telltale Games got involved with the franchise in 2010 and delivered Back to the Future: The Game. So we’re left waiting right now for when this new game will be announced and how it’s connected to the beloved IP.
