The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion came out quite a few years ago. 2006 saw this RPG drop into the marketplace, and that eventually helped Bethesda prepare for their biggest installment of the franchise to date, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. While we’re waiting for the next installment to make its way into the marketplace, there were plenty of rumors suggesting that we might be getting a remake or remaster of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Today, a new report claims that a remake is in the works, and a few elements were adjusted for the upcoming release.
We’re getting this report from MP1ST, which credits a former Virtuos employee. Details were noted to have come from the former employee’s website, which was not linked or credited to avoid privacy concerns. Regardless, it’s been noted that this game is actually getting a remake from the studio, and developers are using Unreal Engine 5 to bring it out.
Apparently, six systems are being reworked to better suit modern gaming. Those include stamina, sneak, blocking, archery, hit reaction, and the HUD. There are even some influences from Souls-like games for the blocking system. Meanwhile, other game areas like the stamina system and HUD were tweaked to ensure the game was less frustrating than the past release. After all, quite a few new young players would be experiencing this game for the first time ever.
Unfortunately, we’re still waiting to see if this game is actually being remade. We might get a reveal this month. If you recall, Microsoft is holding a Xbox Developer Direct presentation. There are a few games already confirmed to be showcased at the event but there was one title kept in secret. We don’t know what the fourth mystery game is at this point and there’s been rumors suggesting this Developer Direct might be bigger than most would suspect. Perhaps the mystery game will be The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake. But we’ll have to wait for the presentation to air later this month to see if that’s the case.
