If you recall, yesterday we reported on an industry insider teasing the announcement of a new Developer Direct. The tease proved to be accurate, as today, Microsoft took to its official Xbox website and unveiled that a new Developer Direct event would be happening on January 23, 2025. That gives us our first big event to tune into for this year, and hopefully, it starts off with a bang.
If you’re unfamiliar with Developer Directs, they are presentations made by Xbox that started a couple of years ago. In 2023, Microsoft made this presentation as a new means of being a little more transparent about the projects currently in the works. It’s a smaller presentation that typically comes in at under an hour long. Likewise, only a few games are highlighted for viewers to get updated information.
Fortunately, much like previous presentation announcements, we already have a list of games that are said to be featured. We’ll get a small deep dive from the development studios working on South of Midnight, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and Doom: The Dark Ages. Hopefully, you’re interested in one, if not all, of these games, which will have some new information presented to fans worldwide.
Of course, one missing image on the graphic indicates that another game will be shared with fans. We don’t know what game that will be, so we’ll need to wait for the presentation to kick off later this month. With that said, you’ll want to mark your calendar as this stream is set to take place on January 23, 2025, at 1 PM Eastern. You’ll find the presentation being presented live on the various Xbox channels. Now, we can begin speculating as to what that fourth game will end up being at the event. Perhaps we’ll even get a new game announcement.
