Have you been playing Marvel Rivals? The hero shooter has been doing well since its release, and NetEase Games is striving to ensure this game continues to do well. Since it was first released in December last year, fans have enjoyed the game across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S platforms. However, more than a few players found themselves unable to log in simply due to false bans being fired by the studio.
No one likes cheaters. Especially when you’re dealing with a competitive multiplayer game like Marvel Rivals, it’s no surprise that developers spend quite a bit of time ensuring there are protocols in place. Various detection systems are used for online games to help identify when players use software to manipulate the game in their favor. Bans are usually swiftly handed out to ensure cheaters are tossed out of the game and keep the playing field fair. However, it’s not a perfect system.
NetEase Games recently uncovered that players using compatibility layer programs were being tagged as cheaters. This false tag has since been identified and rectified, so those of you who were falsely banned should no longer find your account unable to connect to the game. This shouldn’t be the case for others going forward, as NetEase Games shared the news through Discord, which we’re finding out about thanks to a screengrab from X user Miller Ross.
Of course, while detection systems help keep cheaters away, developers always request that the various in-game reporting systems be used to help the studio clear out cheaters. Meanwhile, you can appeal a ban if your account is falsely targeted.
