It’s not surprising that we’re still finding new information about The Witcher 4. The game had a big surprise reveal during The Game Awards 2024. During the event, CD Projekt Red dropped the latest trailer, highlighting the fact that we’ll be stepping into the role of Ciri this time around. However, after The Game Awards, we had game director Sebastian Kalemba and executive producer Gosia Mitręga, who went on a bit of a media tour.
We’re still coming across interviews from the event, such as this one from Parris. Thanks to GamesRadar, we’re finding about this interview that focuses on some of the aspects we have likely all already been aware of. However, it was noted that players will be battling the Bauk, as we witnessed in the cinematic trailer. This monster will apparently toy with Ciri’s fears, but just what fears Ciri has at this point in her life remains a mystery for now. All we know right now is that this will be a complex and powerful monster that will also deal with inner demons.
For those unaware, Bauk is based on Serbian mythology. It is a beast that hides in dark places, waiting for its prey to stumble in. A means of avoiding your untimely death is to use light and noise, but we’re likely going to see CD Projekt Red make their own methods of fighting against this beast. Regardless, it’s confirmation that we’ll have to fight against this monster within the game rather than being locked behind a cinematic trailer.
As for The Witcher 4, we’ll still be waiting a while before we get our hands on the game. It just recently entered full production. That said, we know that the map size will be comparable to The Witcher 3, and while Ciri will be the main protagonist this time, Geralt will appear in the game. Of course, just how much of a role Geralt will be in this game installment will still be kept secret. In the meantime, if you haven’t already caught the trailer for The Witcher 4 from The Game Awards 2024, you can view it in the video embedded below.
