Bloober Team has made quite a name for themselves. After releasing their own horror gameplay experiences, they also showed they could handle some heavy-hitting IPs. With the release of Silent Hill 2, the remake was well received not only by veteran players but also by newcomers. But if you were to ask the director behind Silent Hill 2, Mateusz Lenart, he wouldn’t mind diving into a fantasy horror experience.
We know Bloober Team is currently working on their next horror game, Cronos: The New Dawn. Again, after the work they put into Silent Hill 2, this next game is on quite a few players’ radars. However, recently, the director behind Silent Hill 2, Mateusz Lenart, was featured on the Bonfire Conversations podcast. During his time on the show, the developer revealed they would like to do something with a fantasy survival horror twist.
One of the pitches that went out was a gameplay experience tied to the Lord of the Rings IP. However, it doesn’t seem like the pitch went very far. Still, that would be an interesting idea. The IP does warrant some spooky moments from the source material. We’ve also seen the IP get adapted into a wide variety of different games.
At any rate, it’s at least an idea the Bloober Team was interested in exploring. Perhaps we’ll see something come to fruition from this. But for now, the only game we know currently being developed at the studio is the already-mentioned Cronos: The New Dawn. Likewise, more than a few fans are hopeful that Konami will allow this studio to dabble more into the Silent Hill IP, either with another remake or perhaps even their own unique take.
