I’m sure you are all familiar with some of the big trailer highlights during The Game Awards this year. The event was filled with new game announcements and updates for some of the most anticipated games and franchises. That includes the first proper showing of The Witcher 4. While our first trailer showcases a cinematic to the upcoming title, a couple of devs from CD Projekt Red have been doing media press rounds to help highlight what we can expect with this new installment.
Now, don’t get too excited. CD Projekt Red is still keeping its cards close to its chest. But the studio’s VP and game director, Sebastian Kalemba, and VP and executive producer Małgorzata Mitrega have highlighted some new details. For instance, they recently were featured on the YouTube channel Skill Up. During the interview, the development team was asked whether they aimed to provide a similar scope as the past game or if they would be dialing things back.
According to the duo, the game will be similar in size in terms of its map and the number of quests to The Witcher 3. That’s reassuring if you were hopeful the gameplay experience wouldn’t be condensed down. Of course, the developers have high ambitions, so we’ll just have to see how this game evolves over the course of its development cycle. We could see the game surpass their current expectations.
Meanwhile, we have heard a few more aspects about this upcoming installment. We know that a new voice actress is taking on the role of Ciri. Furthermore, if you’re brand new to this IP and haven’t had any experience with the books, games, or the Netflix series, you’re in luck. CD Projekt Red designed this game to allow newcomers to jump into it without feeling lost.
