Nintendo put together a demo for Kid Icarus: Uprising for an event that took place last night called Nintendo Direct. Nintendo dev Masahiro Sakurai handled the 13-minute demonstration, and showed off some of the game's multiplayer aspects and something called weapon fusion.
Multiplayer battles in Uprising will allow six players to go head to head in an arena with AIs taking over the empty slots when there aren't enough players. Players can battle each other locally in the same room or over WiFi, with support for free-for-all and in 3v3 team battles. In the team battle, the entire team shares a single life meter, that when extinguished, causes one of the players to become an angel. The objective of the opposing team is to then kill this angel.
Players can choose from eight different arenas in which to battle, each with multi-tiered layouts for vertical action. Players can also save up to 16 different configurations for which to deck their characters with, with equipment ranging from slow, fast, short- and long-distance weapons, and an assortment of other gear to match their playstyles.
Winning matches in multiplayer unlocks new items and weapons for use in both the single- and multiplayer modes of the game.
Further details about the game can be seen in the video above.
