There is quite a bit of love for Days Gone. When it was first released, there might have been some who didn’t quite connect with the game, but others enjoyed the narrative and adventure Sony’s Bend Studio offered them. However, the game failed to give the studio an official green light to progress towards a sequel installment. Years later, fans are starting to speculate that we might soon be in for an official remastered edition announcement.
As Kitguru pointed out, the rumors started a while ago. Before the official announcement that Horizon Zero Dawn would receive a remastered edition, rumors suggested that a remaster was coming for it and Days Gone. However, only Horizon Zero Dawn has received a remastered release so far, which only added fuel to a remaster announcement that was coming to Days Gone.
It was recently discovered that there was more activity within the SteamDB for Days Gone, and if that wasn’t enough, it was noted on Reddit that Days Gone has a sale going on right now that ends on December 12, 2024. The significance of that date is this is when we are getting The Game Awards. Now, The Game Awards is known for announcing several big games alongside handing out awards for titles released within the year. So we could see an official Days Gone Remastered announcement at the event.
Take this as nothing more than speculation and rumors for now. But if it does come to fruition, we don’t have long before that official announcement is made. At any rate, that makes us wonder if the game does well enough if it could spark more interest in coming back with a sequel installment. Otherwise, if not, players will at least get another chance to dive into this game again or for the first time.
