Amnesia and Dear Esther Devs Team up on A Machine For Pigs

February 22, 2012 by Josh Harmon

The Amnesia sequel will be out this fall, so plan your sleepless nights accordingly.

Remember the teaser site that promised a sequel to the pants-wettingly scary Amnesia: The Dark Descent? Two weeks and one ARG later, Frictional Games has finally made it official, announcing that Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs is coming to the PC this fall.

But that's not the only interesting revelation. Turns out, the China-themed clues weren't in reference to the game's setting. Rather, they were teasing the title's developer, thechineseroom, who you might know from their work on the Half-Life 2 mod turned retail hit Dear Esther.

And if a collaboration between two masters of creepy ambience aren't enough to send you running for the adult diaper aisle, they've also revealed a few plot details. Set in the same universe as The Dark Descent, A Machine for Pigs tells the story of Oswald Mandus, a business tycoon who falls ill with a fever following a tragic expedition to Mexcio. Mandus spends months unconscious, haunted by visions of a sinister machine. As he awakens in his mansion, finally free from his ordeal, he hears the rumblings of an engine.

Yep, we're definitely going to need to stock up on Depends.
