Dragami Games has announced the release date for Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, plus one extra thing.
They made the announcement on their official Twitter account:
“The digital version of Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP for PS4 and Xbox One will be released on December 2!
To coincide with the release of the PS4 and Xbox One versions, the “Pin-up Girl Outfit” that was so popular in the original version will make a comeback and be added to the lineup as a new outfit!
Additionally, users who purchase the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and Steam versions will be able to get it for free via an update, so be on the lookout!
Please note that both versions of the game will be Full HD (1920 x 1080) and run at a constant 30fps or higher.
Please note that the PS4 version is not compatible with upgrades or downgrades. The Xbox One version is compatible with Smart Delivery.
We will not be accepting pre-orders for the PS4 and Xbox One versions, but we are planning to offer early-bird bonuses.
We’ll let you know as soon as the details are finalized, so please stay tuned.”
The Pin-Up Girl Outfit, also known as the Rockabilly Outfit, was originally a pre-order bonus that players would not have been able to buy or earn in-game otherwise. It’s inspired by pin-up model Bettie Page, and it finds Juliet ditching her pigtails for Page’s distinctive bangs, complete with a little flower pin. She also wears a black dress with fishnet stockings and a pink flower pattern on it.
It did seem that Dragami had already bundled in all the costumes that they could add to Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, but they may have laid out a plan for more content to be added later to sustain interest in the game for fans who still haven’t pressed purchase. At this point, the sales on the platforms that Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP was already released in have already run out, but they may opt to spin the game around for sales once again in the future.
And it’s interesting that Dragami opted to bring the game to Xbox’s Smart Delivery program, a nice little bonus that PlayStation gamers don’t get to enjoy as much. It’s not just that Xbox owners get to play the same game on two console generations off of one copy, forwards and backwards. It’s that users can opt to get the game automatically installed for them.
As we had recently reported, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP turned out to be a huge success for Dragami Games and their parent company, Extreme Co. Ltd. So we certainly hope a full scale Lollipop Chainsaw remake, or a Lollipop Chainsaw sequel are now possible down the line. In the meantime, we know Dragami got enough back that they’re going to patch Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP to be the best game it can be here and now.
