Ironclad Announces Sins of a Dark Age

February 21, 2012 by Ian Miles Cheong

Ironclad has announced a new multiplayer RTS called Sins of a Dark Age.

Indie developer Ironclad, best known for Sins of a Solar Empire, has just announced a new game. Titled Sins of a Dark Age, the game blends traditional RTS with tactics and brands itself a “Hero-and-Commander Strategy”.

In Sins of a Dark Age, players join an online team consisting of one Commander and a small group of Heroes who work together to accomplish a specific scenario goal. Players then go against an enemy team in a short, fast-paced match or alternatively, they can work cooperatively against the AI. Players can choose from an ever-growing pool of heroes, commanders and factions each of which supports unique capabilities.

Hero: Choose the Hero role and you will face the enemy on the front lines as the most inspiring and powerful member of a mighty army. Your success in battle will be well rewarded with experience, unique abilities, and game changing items that will make you an ever greater symbol of power on the battlefield and a critical rallying point for your commander’s army.

Commander: Choose the Commander role and you’ll devise a master plan for your empire. You’ll oversee your grand army in an epic battle against the enemy. You’ll also be responsible for building your base, directing your peons, and carefully positioning your defenses. You’ll need to train your units and use them to support your team’s heroes in assaults on enemy positions and in the capture of key resources. When all else fails call upon your Commander’s epic ‘Realm Powers’ to turn the tide of battle!

The beta for Sins of a Dark Age is coming in Summer 2012. Be sure to register on their website if you’d like to enter the beta.
