Nintendo Games Might Be Back Up For Sale On Amazon

November 7, 2024 by Andrew McKay

Maybe they’re friends again…

Amazon and Nintendo have had a rather strained relationship in recent times. You’d be hard-pressed to find a first-party Nintendo game on Amazon before today. The justifications for this policy are somewhat murky but what’s important is that for the first time in 2024, it seems to have lifted.

Now some have postulated that this may be a policy on Nintendo’s side. Perhaps a plan to push greater digital media sales. However, Nintendo’s first-party games are still available on other digital storefronts like Target, GameStop, and Best Buy. So Amazon is the exception, and it has been so for several months. There has been a shortage of Nintendo games both digitally and physically. However, the game to break this cycle was The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. The first Nintendo game to appear on Amazon in 2024.

It’s a curious case, but the greater access to games the better they sell and the more they will encourage developers and publishers to put out their own games. Which is a net win for gamers everywhere. Plus now you can get The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom on Amazon, so if it’s been sold out at your local reseller you know where to get it.
