Anthem Developer Would Love To See A Reboot

October 28, 2024 by Dennis Patrick

Could Anthem get a second chance?

Anthem was a game that BioWare had hoped to see succeed when it launched back in 2019. This futuristic action RPG was pushed through marketing, but it failed to hit the strides of both fans and critics alike. Years later, at least one developer is voicing their opinion on how this game could use a reboot. If EA were to bring one out, could it actually hold up and deliver where the initial release fell short?

Recently, Ben Irving, a producer who had worked on Anthem, commented on an X post. A fan of Anthem noted how they enjoyed the game and even found some random players joining in on the fun when they started Anthem back up again recently. Ben said that they would love to reboot Anthem one day. They also revealed that they were amazed at the reception for the game, which was so positive.

I’d love to reboot Anthem one day…

However, Ben stated that while they would love to see the IP rebooted, they are not currently working at BioWare or EA. Instead, they are now an executive producer at Crystal Dynamics. So don’t expect any involvement from Ben Irving if EA were to bring out a reboot for this game.

It’s amazing how many people are still so enthusiastic about Anthem so many years later. Anthem still has all the potential in the world … https://t.co/Y30uZKTeoz

Of course, it might still be tricky to get the game IP back into development. We have seen failed projects in the past that were seemingly a real money pit. One of the more recent cases that comes to mind is Concord. So, developers could be hesitant about bringing something like Anthem out again. At least it shows that there are some fans who would be interested in the game and even former developers if it were to come back into production. Development might have ceased for the game, but it was released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC platforms if you’re interested in checking out the gameplay experience.
