It’s becoming almost comical what’s happening with the still-not-revealed Nintendo Switch 2. The console has been confirmed by Nintendo to be announced “soon,” and that it would release in the 2025 fiscal year. That is emphatically all we know about the system. However, there are numerous leaks and reports about “what the console will look like” or “be like,” and, of course, what video games will be on it. However, that doesn’t mean that these reports are true, especially when they start to contradict one another and make you wonder what’s real and what’s not. Another such rumor has popped up to prove that.
In another post on Famiboards, a user claims to have information that states the console hasn’t gone into mass production yet. The belief, based on other statements and reports, was that the system was in mass production right now to ensure that it was ready for an early release in 2025, presumably in April or March. However, this rumor states that the production hasn’t gone full force yet, and thus, the release date for the Nintendo Switch 2 might be even later than some had felt before.
Now, do we believe this report? Obviously, we can’t believe anything about the new console because we don’t know anything definitive about the console. Not to mention, long before the Switch 2 was ever stated to be released, there were just as many rumors and reports about a “Switch Pro” version of the OG system that never came out. That’s why you don’t believe everything you read on the internet.
Plus, it wouldn’t make sense for Nintendo to risk waiting for mass production of its next console for some basic reasons. First, even if it wasn’t to be released until June, they’ll want to have the consoles built and tested in small ways and have the lineup of games ready for the reveal presentation. Second, given that the holiday season is upon them, and the winter months can cause delays and problems, the earlier the console gets built, the less worry they have about delays and such.
We know it’s hard to wait for concrete information about the Switch 2, as many are eager to see what it’s like, what it’ll have on it to play if it can truly run Unreal Engine 5, and so on. However, if you let all these rumors and such get in the way of what’s coming, you might ruin your experience a bit.
