There have been plenty of remasters and remakes over the last several years, and many of them haven’t always felt “up to snuff” or “needed” in the gaming world. However, with the Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake by Square Enix, things are a bit different. This is the part of the “trilogy” that is being remade to help remind people of how this legendary and incredibly influential RPG franchise got started. Just as important, as the name states, it’s getting a graphical overhaul via the HD-2D style so that people can see the characters and world in new ways while also feeling a bit nostalgic about the game’s original form.
To celebrate its arrival next one, Square Enix has dropped not one but two new trailers for the game.
First, we have the “Overview Trailer” that highlights the many elements to the game, including how this is the prequel tale for the first game. In it, you’ll take up the role of a young man who must follow in his father’s footsteps to defeat an evil plaguing the land.
But don’t worry, you won’t be doing this quest alone! Instead, you’ll find others to bring with you on your quest, and then you’ll deck out your party in various vocations so you can fight monsters you come across. Choose your party’s skills wisely, as they will greatly impact how you do in the game.
The game’s world is vast, so you’ll want to explore much of it. Doing so will let you meet various people, take on numerous side quests, give you new items and possibly new abilities, and even the monsters you’ll face will change based on the locations you go to and when you go there. Not to be outdone, Sony dropped a special gameplay trailer for Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, featuring how things will go in a certain “optional quest” you can undertake.
The quest is in the quiet village known as Norvik, and you’ll soon discover that it’s a rather “quiet” place for a good reason: its residents have been cursed into slumber! The only way to save them is by finding the “Dreamstone,” and thus, your journey to find it begins! You can see how it all breaks down below:
This is just one of the many quests you’ll find in the game, and that means you’ll have much to do on November 14th.
