There will never be any shortage of rumors, leaks, and speculation online for the game industry. However, we do have some new excitement for fans of the Resident Evil franchise. The video game IP has been around for ages now, and if you were excited to see where the next chapter takes you, Resident Evil 9 could soon have an announcement trailer inbound.
We don’t know when Capcom plans to release the next installment of the Resident Evil franchise. The developers have been working on this IP lately with both new installments and remakes. The latest release from the company was a Resident Evil 4 remake. That was a huge hit, but it was a remake of a past installment. The last new mainline installment for the IP was Resident Evil Village, along with its expansion that came afterward, Shadows of Rose.
That installment wrapped up the storyline of Ethan Winters, a protagonist we were first introduced to in Resident Evil 7. So, where the storyline will focus on next is a mystery. We could see a return to the classic characters, but at the moment, nothing official has been shared with the public. That could be changing, as it seems a new Metacritic page was made for Resident Evil 9.
Thanks to The Gamer, we’re discovering a page was created, but nothing more was offered. We’re not sure why Metacritic made the page, and it’s also uncertain if an announcement trailer will be released. Some fans were hopeful that the previous PlayStation State of Play event would see the first appearance of Resident Evil 9, but that didn’t come to fruition.
Nonetheless, the creation of this page has quite a few fans, who are hopeful an announcement will come soon. That could finally shed some light on who the storyline will focus on regarding the protagonist and, more importantly, when we might get our hands on the game. Meanwhile, other Resident Evil rumors we’ve seen online late suggest Capcom might not be as ambitious when it comes to their next set of remakes as they were with Resident Evil 4.
