I’m sure you all are still familiar with Concord. The game was a big failure when it launched into the marketplace. Rather than push on and try to turn this game around, Firewalk Studios and Sony Interactive Entertainment pulled the game entirely. After only two weeks of release, Concord was pulled and shut down. But some new updates on Steam are leaving fans to speculate as to what might be coming soon.
Concord was a hero shooter, hopeful that it would become this massive franchise. However, it just didn’t connect with players. The game failed to move copies and had few players actively logging into the game. So, this reportedly $400 million budget title might have been a massive waste. So, could Sony Interactive Entertainment bring this franchise back around in a free-to-play scenario?
Thanks to PlayStation LifeStyle, we discovered that Sony’s Concord title was updated on Steam. While the game is not readily available to grab, these updates were discovered through SteamDB. Now, we’re uncertain what these updates are, but fans are speculating that we might get this game back into the storefronts as a free-to-play game. After all, I’m sure Sony is hopeful to recoup some of the costs and turn this IP around after resources were spent to put this game together. Perhaps delivering various skins and in-game content for players to purchase might be more appealing than paying for a full-price game.
Whether going free to play will help this game remains to be seen. Some players might just be turned off from a hero shooter with how many games there are for this genre in the marketplace. All we can do is wait and see if any new movement is being made behind Concord and how long this title remains supported for its second time in the marketplace. But for now, the game remains dead and is unavailable for purchase.
