Resident Evil fans have been enjoying several incredible installment releases. With the remake of Resident Evil 2 being such a hit, Capcom has continued to pump out remakes alongside new installments. However, lately, there has been a push to see some of these big game titles launch on mobile devices. More specifically, we’ve seen some Resident Evil games come to devices like the iPhone and iPad. Now, it looks like Resident Evil 2 is the next installment to receive this mobile treatment.
Thanks to a report from Siliconera, we’re finding out that Resident Evil 2 is heading towards the iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices on December 31, 2024. You can bring in the new year while enjoying this Resident Evil hit on the go. Likewise, if you have all of these devices, you’ll be able to enjoy them on each as the game is set to be connected to your Apple ID account.
It’s worth noting that you will want to ensure that your iPad and Mac have at least an M1 chip to run this game. Furthermore, according to the report, those on the iPhone will need to have a device that is newer than the iPhone 16. Fortunately, if you’re uncertain how the game will run with your device, there is a free-to-play segment to try the title out before you put down the money for a copy.
What is interesting, though, is that this game is coming out despite the previous flop reports from Capcom’s Resident Evil 7. While Resident Evil 7 was a success for consoles and PC platforms, it didn’t translate well on mobile devices. Reportedly, the game was only bought by fewer than 2,000 people.
Of course, Resident Evil 2 was such a massively popular release that it could do well on the iOS platform. For now, all we can do is wait and see if this is the case. If you need a refresher of Resident Evil 2, you can find the original remake launch trailer below.
