Ahead of the game’s release on October 4, around three hours of gameplay from the Until Dawn remake has been leaked online. Twitch streamer Nikolai7PT shared the footage during a livestream on October 1, and it is currently still available to watch.
Many fans of the original game are frustrated that the remake is a full-priced title and not a discounted upgrade for those who already own the title.
“I mean if Horizon can redo all its graphics, add in Duelsense features, and rerecord over 10hrs of motion capture to bring cutscenes up to modern standards and charge $10 to existing players, then realistically Until Dawn should have done the same,” said Reddit user BARD3NGUNN.
First released in 2015, the interactive horror game tasks players with controlling eight young adults who must survive the night on Blackwood Mountain. Most impactfully, the title features a butterfly effect system, in which any choices the player makes can alter the story in minor or major ways.

The original game was nominated for a number of awards upon its release, including Best Narrative at The Game Awards 2015 and PlayStation Game of the Year at the Golden Joystick Awards. It won Best Original Property at the British Academy Games Awards 2016.
“Rebuilt and enhanced for PS5 consoles and PC, Until Dawn invites you to relive the nightmare, and immerse yourself in a gripping slasher horror where every decision can make the difference between life and death,” the game’s official description reads.
The Until Dawn remaster will be released on PlayStation 5 and PC on October 4, 2024. A live-action film is currently in the works.
