Publisher Square Enix and developer Mistwalker have announced that the JRPG FANTASIAN Neo Dimension will be released for PC and consoles on December 5, 2024.
FANTASIAN was first launched for Apple Arcade in 2021, but many fans have been clamoring for the title to be released on more accessible platforms given its connection to Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of the Final Fantasy franchise. Additionally, the music for the game was composed by the legendary composer Nobuo Uematsu.
“Experience an enhanced version of FANTASIAN, initially released for Apple Arcade in 2021, with brand-new features, including English and Japanese voiceovers and an additional difficulty option,” the description reads.
“Experience an original and modern take on the beloved turn-based battle system, with a wealth of unique mechanics and strategic combat that shake up the classic RPG formula, and explore a multi-dimensional universe come to life set against the backdrop of over 150 charming field areas that blend handmade dioramas with CG graphics.”
Earlier this month, Hironobu Sakaguchi expressed the happiness he’s felt developing FANTASIAN Neo Dimension, noting that he had initially planned to retire after his work on the original mobile title. He also teased a new project.
“I genuinely made Fantasian thinking it might be my retirement work, but yes, I’m taking it back,” he said in an interview with Famitsu. “We’re starting to talk about a new project…that is, we’re making a new game. It’s almost the same team that worked on Fantasian, but I can’t tell you what we’re working on yet.”
FANTASIAN Neo Dimension will be released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam on December 5.
