If you were around in the 1990s through the early 2000s, you know that there was a big movement toward providing transparent tech. It was all the rage to get a look inside the tech and gadgets we used daily, from computer monitors to home phones. Now, it’s making a return from Xbox as the team officially unveiled the new Cipher series.
If you recall, yesterday, we reported on a leak that suggested a new transparent Xbox controller was coming into the marketplace. That reveal happened, and you can see the new controllers coming soon in the video embedded below. A new blog post from the official Xbox Wire confirmed that they are bringing these new color variants to the Xbox Elite Series 2 controller. This reveal comes with a special edition controller announcement, the Xbox Wireless Controller Ghost Cipher Special Edition. You’ll find this is another transparent top case with bronze triggers and a bronze D-Pad.
Fortunately, outside of the new Ghost Cipher Special Edition, these controller designs will be available for players to customize to their liking within the Xbox Design Lab. There is a variety of colors and combinations you can pick from to make your controller catered to your liking. But that’s not the only new addition to the Xbox Design Lab.
It’s noted that the Xbox team has decided to add new options for the D-pad and paddle designs. These new designs are Sunset Chroma and Energy Chroma. So again, you can further tweak these new controllers to your exact liking.
Consumers interested in these new designs can now start customizing their controllers through the Xbox Design Lab. Meanwhile, if you’re after the new Xbox Wireless Controller Ghost Cipher Special Edition, it’s available for preorder for $69.99 and will be released on October 8, 2024.
