The Assassin’s Creed franchise will soon have a new installment available for fans to pick up. This new installment, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, sends players back to the Sengoku period of Japan. If you’re itching to dive into this new installment, we have new details pertaining to the weather. It turns out that the weather aspect of this game doesn’t account for much more than animation.
We’ve seen footage of the game in marketing materials released online in the past for the public. If you also caught those, you would have noticed some variable seasons for players to experience throughout the campaign. But it looks like these season changes and weather patterns don’t alter the gameplay experience. Instead, we’re learning more about the weather aspect from GamesRadar, who quotes an interview from Play magazine.
Thierry Dansereau is the art director behind Assassin’s Creed Shadows. During an interview with Play magazine, the developer unveiled that weather doesn’t negatively impact the player. So, anything we see in the game dealing with weather won’t change how your character and enemies behave.
That might be a relief to some, while others, I’m sure, will find that this could have been a little more immersive if the weather had played a bigger role. But we’ll just have to wait and see how this game holds up against the other mainline installments that came before it.
That said, this wasn’t the only news we heard recently about the upcoming game. The same art director also noted that the Assassin’s Creed Shadows map size would be similar to that of Assassin’s Creed Origins.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set to launch on November 15, 2024. When the game is released you’ll find it available for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC platforms. In the meantime, you can view a trailer showing off the world of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which is embedded below.
