We’re heading towards the end of 2024. This year went by fast, so fans of the gaming industry are looking forward to what is coming our way in 2025. Some of these games will undoubtedly get another showcase this year to hype up their launches. However, a new report stated that Bungie will continue to keep their Marathon game under wraps for a little longer. As a result, you shouldn’t expect anything too notable this year from the development studio.
Bungie might still have quite a few hands on Destiny 2, but we already know what project the development team is planning to deliver next. Marathon is returning and will hopefully deliver another thrilling gameplay experience to fans next year. However, according to a report from Forbes, sources familiar with the project indicate nothing notable will be highlighted for the game this year.
Paul Tassi spoke with some of their sources that are close to the project. Apparently, the rumors that started to circulate online recently suggesting $40 is the price point Bungie is aiming for are true. There are no plans to dial things back to a free-to-play experience despite Sony’s previous $40 Concord release quickly finding itself shut down. There will be plenty of eyes on this game when it launches after the Concord disaster, and we imagine the pressure is on Bungie to deliver a hit for Sony.
Beyond that, Paul noted that Bungie wouldn’t be revealing any significant details about their upcoming game. That said, it doesn’t mean fans might not see 2024 wrap with no mention of Marathon. It’s noted that there might be a short video from Bungie’s game director, Joe Ziegler.
This video will apparently be from Joe, who will clarify some of the information and rumors about the game while introducing himself to the fanbase. But those of you who want that next big showcase to see how Marathon is shaping up will likely have to wait until sometime early next year.
