Respawn Confirms That There Will Be One More Star Wars Jedi Title

September 18, 2024 by Todd Black

It’s time to end this tale.

The galaxy far, far away has been getting plenty of attention recently, and not necessarily for good reasons. After all, you heard what happened to its latest TV show, right? Anyways, on the gaming side of things, Ubisoft released a title within the galaxy to various middling reception and results. The company itself took a stock hit because it wasn’t meeting expectations. That got fans to wonder if Respawn Entertainment could save them, as they knew how to make things work in that universe via the first two entries of their Star Wars Jedi series. We all knew a third was likely to happen; it just hadn’t been confirmed yet.

However, at EA’s “investor relations day,” as noted by VGC, Laura Miele, president of EA Entertainment and Technology, noted that Respawn was indeed working on the third title in the line and that this would be the final entry in it:

“Respawn is working hard to bring the final chapter of this thrilling story to players. 40 million Star Wars fans have connected with Cal Kestis and his arc of becoming a powerful Jedi.”

While we could easily argue that this isn’t Cal’s “arc,” we’ll let it slide because this finally confirms that a third game is coming. It was presumed to be happening due to the reception and sales of the second game that came out last year, but you never know with the gaming industry these days.

The question now is, how will the story end? At the end of Star Wars Jedi Survivor, Cal Kestis and his friends were betrayed by one of their new allies, losing multiple members of their mini-rebellion, including Sere. However, it came with a small bit of light and hope, as they discovered a planet that the Empire itself couldn’t get to. The implication is that Cal and those still around will start ferrying people to this planet to keep them safe from the Empire’s reign.

Of course, not everything goes to plan in this universe, so things could change, and even if that is the goal of the final title, they’ll have to explain why Cal Kestis isn’t around during the main trilogy when the galaxy arguably needs him the most.

Even still, unlike with Ubisoft’s recent gambit, fans know that Respawn will deliver, as they have two games in the bank that prove they know how to make the galaxy far, far away exciting, and keep their interest throughout.
