A number of games will be leaving the PlayStation Plus Extra catalog in October, including five popular games in the Dragon Quest series. Additional titles being pulled from Extra include Gotham Knights, LittleBigPlanet 3, The Evil Within, Toukiden Kiwami, and Ultra Street Fighter 4.
The following games in Square Enix’s popular series will be pulled from the service in mid-October (via Push Square):
- Dragon Quest Builders
- Dragon Quest Builders 2
- Dragon Quest Heroes
- Dragon Quest Heroes 2
- Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age
The latter entry is the definitive version of the latest mainline entry in the franchise, including more content than the original release on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Featuring new characters and gameplay options, fans of story-heavy titles will want to enjoy it before it’s gone.
Dragon Quest fans have been having a great year, as Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake is set to be released on November 14 for Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store. Yesterday, it was announced that the upcoming game has already gone gold.
“Years ago, the great hero Ortega bid farewell to his wife and child as he set off on a quest to defeat the villainous Archfiend, Baramos,” the game’s description reads. “Ortega failed his quest, and Baramos still threatens the world. Now, on their sixteenth birthday, Ortega’s only child is summoned by the king of Aliahan and entrusted with a mission of the highest import: to take on Ortega’s quest, vanquish Baramos, and save the world.”
The new title will have fully-voiced cutscenes and its soundtrack will feature a full orchestra. These elements were supervised by the creator of the franchise himself, Yuji Horii. Random encounters have been added, along with new abilities not seen in the original title, though the combat will remain turn-based and can be sped up.
