Fans hate the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare trailer that announced the game just a couple of days ago. They’re voicing their disapproval of both the game itself and the trailer by hitting the Dislike button on the trailer’s YouTube page.
Right now, the trailer’s sitting at 229,663 dislikes, far more than the 162,826 likes it has.
The fans have lambasted the trailer for everything ranging from its rock cover of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity,” to its use of pre-scripted cutscenes instead of any actual gameplay. Their views echo the criticism leveled against the trailer by DICE employees, who made fun of it on Twitter upon seeing it.
Many of them state that there would be far more dislikes and far fewer likes if it didn’t end with a teaser for the Modern Warfare Remaster.
Previous Call of Duty trailers were much more well-received than Infinite Warfare. A redditor going by ImLuddx put together a comparison of all the previous reveals, which garnered way more likes than dislikes.
Judging from the reactions to the game, it’s certain that Infinity Ward will have a steep hill to climb to win back the series’ audience. There’s little doubt that the game is going to sell like hotcakes this year, like it does every year, but they could still stand to lose at least a portion of the fanbase if they don’t deliver a good experience.
