There is no shortage of fan projects. We’ve seen some truly remarkable games released from fans rather than a dedicated development studio. These games can bring out new remakes to utterly new game campaigns. After all, we’re still coming off from Fallout London, which made some significant strides with the fan base community. Now, fans of the Half-Life franchise will soon get a makeshift Half-Life 3 release this fall.
Project Borealis just received its first teaser trailer, which should have intrigued quite a few Half-Life franchise fans. If you don’t recall, we saw the first look at the intended plot for Half-Life 2: Episode 3 back in 2017. The video game plot stemmed from a blog post from a Half-Life writer, Marc Laidlaw. This prompted a team of fans to form and start their own take on the video game campaign based on this storyline.
That game is actually nearing its release, as the developers are planning to launch Project Borealis this fall. However, while we wait for more details to emerge and gameplay footage, a new teaser trailer is available to check out. This teaser trailer just offers a small glimpse into what the developers have been working on. Of course, it’s just a teaser, so we’ll still be waiting for something a little more substantial.
From the ensuing chaos in the Half-Life community, Project Borealis was formed. We’re a group of Half-Life fans who are spending our evenings and weekends creating the game we’ve been waiting so long for. Project Borealis is now an over 80 person team of developers dedicated to revisiting the Half-Life series with a fresh new episode for fans of the series, old and new, to enjoy. – Project Borealis
With as much success as Team Folon had with Fallout London, we’re interested to see how well Project Borealis does with their take on the next chapter of the Half-life series. In the meantime, while we wait for more footage to be released, you can view the teaser trailer embedded below. That said, we have also heard a rumor that Valve is working on at least two games set within the Half-Life IP.
