Lost Boys Interactive Hit With Another Round Of Layoffs

September 9, 2024 by Dennis Patrick

The gaming industry continues to see more jobs getting killed off.

Embracer Group has been in the headlines quite a bit over the past couple of years. We’ve seen studios falter and jobs get slashed at the company-owned studios. However, that trend is not slowing down. Instead, it looks as if another round of layoffs within a studio under Embracer Group was just announced. Today, we’re finding out that more employees were let go from Lost Boys Interactive.

Lost Boys Interactive is a remote-first video game developer. This studio, which as mentioned is a member of Embracer Group, has worked on several projects to help them through the development finish line. Their past partners include Gearbox Software, Blizzard Entertainment, Visual Concepts, Zenimax Online, and 2K. So, they have worked on quite a few big projects in the past. But thanks to Insider Gaming, we’re finding out that Lost Boys Interactive took to LinkedIn to unveil the latest layoffs.

The post on LinkedIn noted that they have made a difficult decision to reduce the overall headcount. Shaun Nivens, the CEO of Lost Boys Interactive, stated that this decision didn’t come lightly and was only considered after exhausting all options. It’s also noted that this was due to adapting to the shifting market conditions within the video game industry. Likewise, the studio was required to reassess its operations to better align with the needs of its business and partners.

Today is a challenging day for Lost Boys Interactive as we face the difficult decision to reduce our workforce. We recognize the impact of this decision on our team members, who have contributed greatly to our success. Decisions involving staff reductions are never made lightly, and this action was taken only after considering all other options. We are committed to supporting them in every way we can during this transition. – Shaun Nivens

We don’t know how many jobs were slashed from Lost Boys Interactive. Regardless, because this is a remote video game development studio, it’s affecting jobs across the states. We hate to hear about jobs within the industry getting killed off, and we’re hopeful that the talented individuals who are now leaving Lost Boys Interactive will easily bounce back into a new position within the industry.
