Crowfall: Siege Perilous Adds Siege Warfare And Destruction

May 3, 2016 by Stephen Daly

Five of the game’s 13 archetypes will be playable in the latest alpha test.

ArtCraft Entertainment’s MMO Crowfall is moving onto the next stage of testing with Pre-Alpha 2.0: Siege Perilous. Players will split up as soldiers on the side of Order or of Chaos and either lay siege of a castle or defend it.

New destructive systems have been implemented, allowing players to tear down walls and destroy towers with the help of real-time server-side physics. Crowfall uses Voxel Farm, tech used in Minecraft to help players create, to help you tear its world apart.

Of the game’s 13 archetypes, five will be playable during this round of testing: the recently introduced Ranger, Champion, Confessor, Knight, and Legionnaire. The eight other archetypes will be added later.

“This is an incredibly exciting milestone for us,” J. Todd Coleman, ArtCraft co-founder and Crowfall’s creative director, commented in a press release. “Our previous tests centered on PvP combat, which is obviously critical to our game but not unique to the market. Our physics-based castle siege system marks the point where Crowfall starts to separate from the other games available in the market.”

Crowfall focuses on the formation of political alliances and feudal warfare and places a strong emphasis on players-versus-player gameplay with rival factions clashing in a never-ending struggle for dominance. The game is “a seamless blend of an MMO with a large-scale strategy game” according to the studio is being made by developers who previously worked on games such as Ultima Online, The Sims Online, and Star Wars: The Old Republic.
