Dragon Ball Project Multi Beta Has Officially Ended

September 3, 2024 by Todd Black

Don’t worry, the journey will continue!

There were plenty of surprises in August to keep the gaming industry occupied for a while, and one of them was the reveal of Dragon Ball Project Multi. The reason this was a surprise was that this was a full-on MOBA featuring the characters of the beloved manga/anime, and no one had a true idea that this was about to drop. Or, at least, that it was far enough along to receive a beta! That beta test wrapped up recently, and it was confirmed that with it done, the game will take the feedback and ready itself for its 2025 release.

For those who have friends or family who are fans of the series, you might have seen them posting about the MOBA online. If you did, you’ll know that the game was a true MOBA affair. You had access to certain characters across the games history, and then attempt to complete specific objectives to gain points and rewards for your side while also sabotaging the enemy. For example, you could be tasked with getting a titular dragon ball so that your team would be one step closer to victory. Or, you could get the objective of destroying some stuff on your enemies’ side of the field.

What’s just as important here is the visuals and the up-close fighting. Many diehard fans praised the game for looking great and having character models that look like they were taken right from the pages of the late Akira Toriyama. Furthermore, when you get close to an enemy combatant, you won’t just see them fight, but you can get little animated cutscenes to highlight specific blows that are done to one another.

The only true irony here was that the game’s roster was small during the beta, and it didn’t feature all the characters you’d expect to see. For example, Frieza wasn’t in the game, but his non-canon brother Cooler was. That’s not to say that Lord Frieza or any other popular won’t show up in the full game; we’re just saying that the beta selection was odd.

However, even with that, Dragon Ball Project Multi has the potential to be a truly special MOBA

Another thing to point out is that this isn’t the only game in the franchise coming out soon. Dragon Ball Sparking Zero is ever closer to release, and new looks at the title highlight the diverse and expansive roster that fans will get to have fun with.
