Dragami Games head Yoshimi Yasuda has gone on Twitter to explain Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP’s original mode.
While there was a lot of excitement for the original announcement of Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, some fans were concerned that there were major content changes to the game based on the previews. This was actually because the first previews were showing off RePOP mode, a version of the game that Dragami deliberately changed to make it friendlier to younger gamers, streamers, etc.
Yasuda has gone on Twitter to say this about Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP’s Original Mode:
“The original mode is a mode that reproduces the same gore expression, cut scene direction, character design, motion, comic-style character introduction images, ⅽostumes, achievements, etc. as the original version.
For this original mode, which we applied for approval, there were no requests for revisions from any of the platformers.”
We can understand Yasuda’s frustration from having to explain this again. He has been personally tweeting about the differences from Original Mode and RePOP mode on his account. Of course, most fans were casually following this rerelease, and assumed that only RePOP Mode represented what this game was going to be.
Yasuda went on to explain the changes that will be in both Original Mode and RePOP Mode, and these are all about improving the gameplay, graphics and performance, and fixing those twelve year old game bugs. As Yasuda has pointed out, he has explained all of this before. In fact, we covered this before ourselves, all the way back in June. It’s almost like there were people with an agenda who tried to put this game, and Dragami Games, in a bad light.
Tokyo model and streamer PeachMilky is an official ambassador for Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, and she quote-tweeted Yasuda to reassure old fans about this game as well. She said this:
“Getting the chance to play early I can say that the game is very satisfying as a fan of the original. All the comedy and ridiculous fun of the original with the added bonus of cleaner graphics and smoother attacks. I have not been disappointed.”
Maybe you’re questioning if PeachMilky is an impartial party here, but she can back that up too. You can watch PeachMilky play some of Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP‘s Original Mode below, and confirm that it’s very much the same game in terms of content.
Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP is releasing digitally on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Steam. North America, Central America, South America and Europe will get the game first on September 12, 2024, and other regions will get the game on September 26, 2024. As Dragami has recently announced, PlayStation 4 and Xbox Series One will get a worldwide simultaneous release this November 2024.
