Capcom has revealed some strange new content for Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster.
As you can see in the new trailer, Frank West can dress up in a MegaMan.EXE costume. And yes, that sure is something.
MegaMan.EXE was the protagonist of the tactical RPG Mega Man spinoff, Mega Man Battle Network. The Mega Man Battle Network served as both a bold attempt to expand one of Capcom’s most venerable of franchises, and also a reinvention for a modern audience, namely, the Game Boy Advance gamers of the 2000s.
Now, some gamers who didn’t grow up with this franchise, older and newer alike, may not see what the big deal is. But the franchise was successful enough to hit six games, and get spinoffs and its own spinoff, named Mega Man Star Force.
All of the six Mega Man Battle Network games were recently rereleased in the Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection to modern platforms. So Capcom may have felt it was relevant enough to bring tributes to this game to Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. Personally, I think MegaMan.EXE will be more welcome when he finally arrives in a Capcom Vs. fighting game, but we may have to wait a little longer to see that.
Anyway, if you’re not too crazy about this costume, you can still dress up as Lan Hikari and Tron Bonne, also characters from the Mega Man Battle Network games. And also, there will be costumes for the Nemesis in Resident Evil, and a bunch of others, that were leaked alongside these costumes a month ago. We may be seeing reveals for those costumes pretty soon.
Maybe you’ll enjoy the tracks that Capcom also got from Mega Man Battle Network for this title. The tracks Running Through The Cyber World, Hometown, and Flutter vs. Gesellschaft will play in the shopping mall, based on what costume you are wearing. As reported by Rockman Corner, it sounds like they may have newly arranged versions of these tracks as well.
Now, this may evoke memories of Box Art Mega Man from Street Fighter X Tekken. Thankfully, there shouldn’t be any reason to be upset about this costume, since Dead Rising never took it seriously. Frank played around with Servo costumes in the games before, so this is fine, really. You can load this up if you feel like being goofy, and there’ll be a Nemesis costume if you want to play out a power fantasy instead.
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is releasing on September 19, 2024, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows via Steam. Feel free to enjoy the trailer below.
