Rockstar seems to have unintentionally leaked Red Dead Redemption’s pending debut on PC, based on the unlikely source.
As shared on Twitter by Gematsu, and originally Wario64, the PlayStation store listing for Red Dead Redemption, which was ported to the PlayStation 4 last year, now has a blurb that’s clearly meant for the PC version.
The PlayStation Store listing says this:
“Experience the epic western adventures that defined a generation — now on PC for the first time ever.
When federal agents threaten his family, former outlaw John Marston is forced to hunt down the gang of criminals he once called friends. Experience Marston’s journey across the sprawling expanses of the American West and Mexico as he fights to bury his blood-stained past in the critically acclaimed predecessor to the 2018 blockbuster, Red Dead Redemption 2. Also included is Undead Nightmare, the iconic horror story that transforms the world of Red Dead Redemption into an apocalyptic fight for survival against a zombie horde.
Featuring the complete single-player experiences of both games, including bonus content from the Game of the Year Edition, Red Dead Redemption features all of the 2023 console version upgrades plus PC specific enhancements including support for increased resolutions and framerates, multiple displays, and other accessories, plus spatial surround sound.*
*Red Dead Redemption does not feature multiplayer content.”
Aside from this surprise announcement, there doesn’t seem to be anything new in the game itself. It will presumably be the same version of the game that is on PlayStation 4 and Switch. It will also have the ability to raise framerate and resolution, so that you can max out that performance to as much as your PC build will allow. But there will be no substantial improvement to graphics, at least not in the same way as a remake or even a remaster will have. This is, by all accounts, the same game that was released all the way back in 2010.
While this is not guaranteed, the fact that this blurb got leaked suggests that Rockstar could be announcing it soon. It would certainly be a good way to tide over their fans, while they wait for the gigantic release of Grand Theft Auto 6 sometime next year. While it’s a version of the game a lot of gamers may already own, we already know that such a port is a guaranteed success,, high off of the release of Red Dead Redemption 2. If Rockstar was paying attention, they would have been spending all this time to make sure that Red Dead Redemption is Steam Deck verified like its sequel is. But for that, we’ll just have to wait for that official announcement.
