More information about the election candidates players must face in Metaphor: ReFantazio has been revealed in a lengthy new video from Atlus. The character-centric Exclusive Showcase details both friends and foes, and at nearly 20 minutes in length, those eager to get their hands on the flashy title have plenty to chew on ahead of the game’s release in October.

As announced by the game’s director Katsura Hashino, the next Atlus Showcase will outline the “journey aspect” and daily activities players will enjoy in the title.
“One of the most exciting aspects of this game system is the fact that the bonding process increases the number of very powerful Archetypes,” Hashino says in the video.
“Thinking about what battles you can fight with the Archetypes you acquire from the followers you meet will play a large role in your strategies. It is up to you, the player, to choose a follower in favor of strategy or choose a follower whose circumstances are of interest to you. It is well worth giving thought to, so I hope you look forward to it.”
The battle system in Metaphor: ReFantazio will allow players to switch between front and back rows, similar to the gameplay found in classics like Shin Megami Tensei 2. The game will make it possible to switch between real-time and turn-based at the click of a button, making it more accessible to a wider range of players
The game will take place in a medieval fantasy world that serves as a “mirror” of the contemporary real world. Players will set out on a journey to protect their kingdom while defeating enemies and getting closer to their companions, similar to the Persona series.
Metaphor: ReFantazio is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store on October 11.
