If you thought the Resistance story ended with Resistance 3, you are sorely mistaken. Sony announced yesterday that the series is to be continued with the upcoming release of Resistance: Burning Skies for the PlayStation Vita.
The portable entry in the Resistance series puts you in the role of Tom Riley, described as a firefighter from New Jersey who must fight off hordes of Chimera as they invade the US East Coast in 1951. He's thrown into the thick of it, and must redefine his notions of heroism and duty as he faces off against mankind's greatest threat.
Burning Skies' box art features a Chimeran trooper lying dead, freshly slain o the streets of mid-century New York City with the player's axe resting in the rubble. The artwork is reminiscent of Resistance: Fall of Man's box art.
The game is set for a launch on May 30, making it the world's first portable dual analog game. The game has been built from the ground-up to take full advantage of the PS Vita's controls, including front and rear touchscreen controls. Resistance: Burning Skies' dual-stick shooter controls are a first for portable games.
