Next Ryu Ga Gotoku Title to Be Shown at Tokyo Game Show 2024

July 17, 2024 by Carley Garcia

It’s unclear which series the mystery game will be from.

Fans of the Like A Dragon studio Ryu Ga Gotoku should keep an eye out for this year’s Tokyo Game Show 2024 in September. The company’s next game will be revealed during the event, and though it’s unclear which franchise the game will be a part of, Ryu Ga Gotoku has said that fans will be “surprised.”

The unnamed title may be part of the Like A Dragon series, but it’s also possible that it could be a new entry in the Judgement series. The latest entry in the former was this year’s Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth, while the Judgement series saw its last entry with Lost Judgement in September 2021.

Tokyo Game Show 2024 is shaping up to be one of the largest gaming events in recent history, with over 731 exhibitors and 3,190 booths currently confirmed to be appearing at the September convention. The event will be held at Makuhari Messe in Mihama-ku, Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture. Over a quarter of a million people are expected to attend between September 26 and September 29.

A live-action series based on the Yakuza game series, Like A Dragon: Yakuza, will air on Amazon Prime Video, with the first three episodes airing on October 25 and the final three on November 1.

The series promises to be faithful to the game series as Masayoshi Yokoyama, the studio head of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, is serving as executive producer.

The Yakuza game series began in 2005 with Yakuza for the PlayStation 2. The most recent game in the franchise, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, was released in January 2024 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
