Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Fans Calls Out Key Inaccuracy

July 2, 2024 by Todd Black

Their power levels aren’t that high!

All the buildup to Dragon Ball Sparking Zero has been positive so far. The trailers for the game highlight how this is the true “spiritual successor” to the Tenkaichi games of the past, and it looks to embrace the many parts of the franchise’s lore, including bringing in lesser-known characters that some people wouldn’t immediately recognize. Furthermore, the team has stated that the choices you make in terms of who you fight with in the game will affect how likely you are to win at times. That being said, many people are noting that a key game mechanic that has been shown off not only weighs down the title’s accuracy but also makes the game look bad.

Specifically, the fans are calling out the beam clashes that have been shown in gameplay looks. One such beam clash between an early series version of Goku and his brother Raditz was posted on Reddit, and fans definitely had thoughts on the matter.

The reason this looked so odd to fans is that in this beam clash, the pre-Super Saiyan Goku and Raditz did a clash that literally shattered the dimensions around them. That’s a reference to the famous Gogeta vs. Broly fight from a recent film that showed how high their power levels were that they could shift through realities with a punch or beam blast.

However, in this particular fight, which was clearly shown to replicate the original anime episode that it was done in, neither of these characters has that kind of power level. In fact, in the anime, Goku can’t beat his brother on his own, needing Piccolo’s help and a big sacrifice play just to take him out. Yet, here, both of them are able to unleash power that can shatter dimensions until the clash is done. That’s not how it’s supposed to work, and the fans let their voices be heard on that.

Oh, and it’s not just Reddit that’s commenting on this, it’s people on Twitter as well:

These Sparking! ZERO beam clashes gotta be toned down cause why are Goku and Raditz breaking dimensions in the very first fight 😭 pic.twitter.com/h0NJcDPb4I

As some have, somewhat jokingly, pointed out, if these two characters can “break dimensions” with their attacks, then that means that almost anyone in the game could, even if it’s canonical that they aren’t that strong. They have Hercule Satan in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero, and that means that he could do a dimension break if this kind of thing happens with all characters!

We’ll have to see if the dev team tones things down a bit.
