Treyarch has revealed the details on how Call of Duty Black: Ops 6 will be available on Game Pass.
At the end of last month, Microsoft went out of their way to debunk the rumor that they would introduce a new tier of Game Pass just for Call of Duty. We had pointed out that it would be easy to predict what each existing tier would actually get, but Treyarch’s blog shared some interesting new details.
So Game Pass Ultimate gives subscribers the most content, but not quite everything. They get the story campaign, multiplayer, and Zombies. They get the standard edition on PC Microsoft Store, and the digital cross-gen bundle for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. This tier doesn’t have the bonuses from the Vault Edition, but we’ll get back to that below.
Game Pass PC is the standard edition on PC Microsoft store, so that’s the story campaign, multiplayer, and Zombies.
Game Pass Console is the digital cross-gen bundle for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. Now, in this tier, you don’t get access to online multiplayer, and that is still true for Call of Duty Black: Ops 6.
This isn’t exclusive to Call of Duty Black: Ops 6, but for Game Pass Console subscribers, if they want to play their games online, they have to either add a Game Pass Core subscription, or upgrade to Game Pass Ultimate.
Finally, Game Pass Core gives online multiplayer access. Game Pass Core subscribers still get some games as part of their subscription, but it’s a considerably smaller library than other tiers. For Call of Duty Black: Ops 6, players get Multiplayer and Zombies, but not the story campaign.
Now, let’s lay it out here. Game Pass Core is $ 9.99 a month, Game Pass Console is $ 10.99 a month, and Game Pass Ultimate is $ 16.99 a month. Clearly, if someone wants Call of Duty Black: Ops 6’s online and offline modes, they will save on Ultimate so that’s the way to go.
But there is another option, which surprisingly nobody else seems to point out. If you want to own the game physically, you can buy the game on Xbox and still subscribe to Game Pass Core to play online. If you only want to pay for Call of Duty games annually that’s the way to go. That would be an ideal way to get Call of Duty Black: Ops 6 Vault Edition too.
So Xbox owners really get a host of options to get Call of Duty Black: Ops 6 in whichever way they like. Most consumers are content with keeping subs to see what they can get, so they may have everything set up to satisfy the most finicky consumer, Microsoft will still see an increase in Game Pass subs.
Lastly, there is a Call of Duty Black: Ops 6 Vault Edition upgrade available for Game Pass PC, Console and Ultimate, at $ 30. That gives subscribers these extras:
- Hunters vs. Hunted Operator Pack
- Mastercraft Weapon Collection
- GobbleGum Pack
- Black Ops 6 Season 1 Black Cell
So those higher tier subscribers don’t have to miss out on that content as well.
Call of Duty Black: Ops 6 will be available on October 25, 2024, and it will also be on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows on Steam, Battle.net, and Windows Store.
