We have an interesting new rumor about one of the most highly anticipated remakes coming from Konami.
As reported by billbil-kun in Dealabs, Metal Gear Solid Delta is coming in 2025. We’re using redditor Halil-Heyman’s summary in the GamingLeaksandRumors subreddit for more info.
billbil-kun says that their only source on this new release year is a ‘global distribution giant.’ The listing they found from the distributor has a placeholder date of 12/31/2025. They also say they don’t have an explanation for why Metal Gear Solid Delta has been delayed, but they claim that we’ll be getting news about the title in the next ten days. The official announcement trailer for this game published by PlayStation revealed a 2024 release date.
They say they do have information regarding internal updates, and even information about physical copies of the game. They believe that the announcement could be coming on June 6, 2024. For those curious, this year’s Summer Games Fest is scheduled on June 7, 2024, 2 PM PT. We did consider, what if billbil-kun meant June 7 for Dealabs’ audience in France? The start time for Summer Games Fest in Seattle would also be in June 7 in Paris, France, at 11 PM.
As best as we can tell, the only event scheduled on June 6 is a Guerrilla Collective conference. That event will have games from smaller independent developers, so it’s really unlikely that Konami will make an announcement there.
If we assume billbil-kun didn’t make any error from assessing their own information, they may know something that hasn’t been announced yet. Maybe Konami will have a conference of their own that they’re still keeping secret. But it may be more likely that they will just release the trailer and a press release on that day.
billbil-kun also seems to have information on the US retail prices for Metal Gear Solid Delta, as follows:
- Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater – Standard Edition (PS5 / Xbox Series X): US$69.99
- Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater – Collector’s Edition (PS5 / Xbox Series X): US$199.99
Of course, we can’t vouch for any of this information, but we would all welcome Konami updating us after the first week of information that they had shared since the project was announced. Remember, even if Hideo Kojima is no longer involved in this remake, many of the developers who made the game with him stayed at Konami, and are working on this project.
The big selling point for this title has been the tech upgrade to Unreal 5, but fans will certainly expect QOL improvements as well. So we hope, if we are getting an update, that Konami will show that they have done work on that end as well.
Metal Gear Solid Delta will be releasing on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows via Steam.
