Lionhead Studios was formally closed down by Microsoft, marking the end of a several week process that was first noted by the cancellation of Fable Legends.
A statement by Microsoft via Kotaku UK confirmed the process was final.
“We can confirm that after much consideration over the six week consultation period with Lionhead employees, we have reached the decision to close Lionhead Studios”
Despite the ups and downs the company had over the years, it was certainly a game studio that had a sense of personality and character.
Back in March, Fable Legends was cancelled by Microsoft, foreshadowing that the studio closure was on the horizon. “After much consideration we have decided to cease development on Fable Legends, and are in discussions with employees about the proposed closure of Lionhead Studios in the UK.”
Although The Movies was pretty fun too. Lionhead will surely be missed by many.
