According to Neil Druckmann, the creative director for The Last of Us and Uncharted 4, the next game from Naughty Dog could “redefine mainstream perceptions of gaming.”
Sony held its ‘Creative Entertainment Vision’ strategy meeting on Thursday, describing the event as the company’s long-term vision for where it “wants to be in 10 years, with an eye towards future technological advances.” To coincide with the discussion, an interview with Druckmann was published in which the creator was asked to share details about a dream project he’d like to see come to life.
“I’ve been lucky to work on several dream projects and am currently excited about a new one, which is perhaps the most thrilling yet. There’s a growing appreciation for gaming that transcends all age groups, unlike when I was growing up. This shift is highlighted by our venture into television with The Last of Us, which I hoped would bridge the gap between gamers and non-gamers,” Druckmann began.
“The show’s success has spotlighted gaming, illustrating the rich, immersive experiences it offers. This visibility excites me not only for our current project but for the broader potential of gaming to captivate a global audience.”
The Last of Us TV series averaged around 32 million viewers per episode.
“I’m eager to see how this new game resonates, especially following the success of The Last of Us, as it could redefine mainstream perceptions of gaming,” Druckmann teased.
While the game in question hasn’t been announced by Naughty Dog just yet, Druckmann has suggested that the studio would be giving more details closer to its planned release date.
