We will get into the gameplay details in a different article, but here’s how this title is different from Persona: it’s a fantasy game that collages together elements from high fantasy, steampunk, historical fiction, etc.
Inverting things around, our real world is their idea of what a fantasy is. And in their world, the assassination of their king sets in motion a mad chase to become the next ruler. Your character gets caught up with this rush for the throne, but he also has his own quest to save a cursed prince as well.
And instead of collecting monsters or demons, you build up party members, who fight alongside you like an old school traditional RPG. It’s certainly fascinating to find out that the former Persona team, now known as Studio Zero, decided that their next big idea after the monster collecting action of Persona, was to actually go back to traditional RPGs.
It’s also clear, even as it’s also available on PlayStation, that Atlus is marketing this title as an Xbox game, perhaps as their own belated response to Final Fantasy.
