Tekken 8 has been lauded by fans as one of the best entries in the series since its release in January, and its 36-person roster is about to get even larger. Eddy Gordo has been announced as the title’s first DLC character with an explosive new trailer showing off his skillset.
Making his first appearance in the 1997 title Tekken 3, Eddy Gordo has remained a fan favorite for nearly three decades. Those with a season pass can snag Eddy on April 1. For everyone else, he’ll be available to purchase separately on April 4.
In its first month, Tekken 8 sold over two million copies, greatly outpacing its predecessor Tekken 7. During the game’s first ten days on sale on Steam, Bandai Namco generated over $13 million in revenue.
Three more characters are set to be added to the game as part of Season 1, appearing in summer, fall, and winter. Over four seasons of DLC content, 14 new fighters will be added to the game including crossover characters like Noctis from Final Fantasy XV and Geese Howard from Fatal Fury.
While Tekken 8 has earned plenty of rave reviews, it recently came under fire for adding pricey cosmetic microtransactions to the game, with some costing as much as $30. Earlier this month, the game’s producer Katsuhiro Harada said that players found using glitches would be banned after some players were seen filling the screen with massive costumes.
Tekken 8 was released on January 26, 2024 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Extensive updates are planned, including more DLC characters and crossovers.
