After being announced at last year’s Summer Game Fest, the upcoming action RPG Sand Land now has a free demo available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam. The title is based on Akira Toriyama‘s manga series of the same name which ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from May to August 2000.
Sand Land is being developed by the team at ILCA, a Japanese studio most known for its work on Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl and One Piece Odyssey. ILCA also worked as a support studio on hit titles like Yakuza 0, Nier: Automata, and Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown.
The story follows Beelzebub, also known as the Fiend Prince, as ventures across a post-apocalyptic desert world, joining a team of adventurers to find the hidden Legendary Spring. Players can look forward to a major vehicle focus, being able to develop their own weaponized motorcycles, tanks, and other forms of transportation.
The demo showcases a limited portion of the map and features Beelzebub, Rao, and Thief as playable characters. Although progress won’t carry over to the full release, having the demo’s save data on your system will reward you with a few bonus resources: 30 B-Grade Bolt and 30 B-Grade Steel. These can be used to enhance your vehicles once you make it far enough in the story.
A new anime adaptation of the Sand Land manga series is scheduled to debut on Disney+ and Hulu on March 20.
Sand Land is scheduled to release for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on April 26.
