PlayStation has shined in the spotlight for a while, especially as many people’s favorite console out of the so-called “console wars.” However, Sony has admitted that the PS3 was not one of their best moments, even though many will not agree and say it was a great console in their childhood or even adulthood.
After the success of the PS2, the company believes they stumbled a bit with launching the PS3 how they did. But it did have an early pretrial to have working parts like a computer, which is pretty much what the PS5 accomplished in today’s generation. This third generation was the first to have a Blu-Ray drive and also support for Linux.
Sadly enough, the PS3 did have a downside to it. This console, released back in 2006, cost $500 dollars, which was a pretty big price tag for a console back in the day. Nowadays, in the high of 2020, a PS5 could be bought for less – given it was actually bought from Sony or a retail store.
While the console had things that a lot of gamers probably wanted at the time, the console didn’t have the best lifespan due to its price being unrealistic for its time. Sony then learned from this and did differently with the PS4, making it only $400 when it was released in 2013.
It is no lie that all PlayStation consoles are good and deserve the love they get, but it is a shame to have seen the PS3 get the short end of the stick solely due to the price being too high for its time.
